Pat the steak dry. Lightly whisk the egg in a large shallow bowl. Mix the flour and salt in another shallow bowl.
Working one at a time, Bread the steaks: Press the steak in the flour on both sides, shake off any excess flour, then dip into the egg. Shak off any excess egg, and press the steak back into the flour, pressing the steak in to ensure it is thoroughly coated.
Once breaded, transfer to a plate while you bread the remaining steaks.
Preheat the air fryer to 400°F/ 200°C.
Carefully place the breaded steaks into the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensure that they are not touching [Notes 2, 3]. Spray, brush or drizzle the steaks with olive oil.
Air fry steaks at 400°F/ 200°C for 8-15 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
Remove chicken fried steaks to a plate and cover with foil to rest for 5 minutes.

Cook your steaks in batches if you have more steaks than will fit in a single layer.
