What do you need?

A flat lay of the ingredients needed for creamy garlic dipping sauce.

The great thing about this dip is that it comes together with simple ingredients you likely have on hand! Here’s what you’ll need:

  • Garlic – For maximum flavor, use fresh garlic cloves. You can use pre-minced garlic but the flavour won’t be as vibrant.
  • Mayonnaise – Go for a good quality one here. You can use reduced fat but avoid fat-free versions.
  • Greek Yogurt – Plain, full-fat Greek yogurt. Can sub regular plain yogurt.
  • Lemon – One juicy lemon for bright acidity. Bottled lemon juice works too.
  • Olive Oil – Use a mild-tasting one, not extra virgin. Vegetable or grapeseed oil also fine.
  • Salt & Pepper – For seasoning. Any basic salt and black pepper works.

How to make creamy garlic dipping sauce

Making this sauce couldn’t be simpler – just a quick blitz in the blender and you’ve got dreamy, creamy garlic sauce ready for dipping, or to enrich anything you drizzle it over!

Here’s how to make it step-by-step:

  1. Peel the garlic cloves first. You want to use fresh, quality garlic here as the star of this sauce. Give the cloves a gentle smash with the flat side of a knife to help remove the skins.
  2. Add the peeled garlic cloves, the mayonnaise, Greek yogurt, lemon juice, olive oil and a good pinch of salt and pepper into a blender or small food processor.

  1. Blend for 1-2 minutes until very smooth. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed. You want it completely silky.
  2. Taste and adjust flavors as desired. Add more lemon juice for acidity, extra salt and pepper for seasoning, or another smashed garlic clove if you dare!
