What do you need?
- Frozen roast potatoes – Popular frozen brands like Ore-Ida and McCain offer pre-made frozen roast potatoes, or you can freeze your own homemade roast potatoes the next time you have leftovers.
- Olive oil spray (optional) – Lightly misting the potatoes with oil will help to get them extra crispy. It is optional as most brands of frozen roast potatoes already have enough oil on them.
- Seasonings (optional) – While frozen roast potatoes sometimes come pre-seasoned, you can always add extra seasonings before or after air frying to customize the flavor.
How to cook frozen roast potatoes in the air fryer
- Preheat air fryer to 360°F/ 180°C – starting with a hot air fryer helps frozen foods like roast potatoes get crispy faster.
- Add the frozen roast potatoes to the air fryer basket in a single layer, avoiding overcrowding, so ample hot air can fully circulate around each potato for fast, even crisping.
- Add extra seasoning and a spritz or two of oil if desired.
- Air fry the potatoes for 15-25 minutes. Shake the basket gently halfway through to redistribute them, or flip them quickly with tongs. This helps them to cook evenly and get crispy on all sides.
- After initial cook time, check doneness and crispiness, and cook for a few more minutes if needed.
Serving ideas
- For a classic complement, toss the hot crispy potatoes with some melted garlic or herb butter. Rich and delicious!
- Or serve them with a hearty roast, smothered with rich, flavorful gravy.
- Go cheesy by topping with grated cheddar, Monterey Jack, Parmesan or crumbled feta or blue cheese.
- Make creamy and comforting loaded potatoes – top them off with crumbled bacon, shredded cheddar and sour cream.
- Make them ranch-style by sprinkling on some ranch seasoning powder during cooking and serving them with blue cheese dressing.
- For an extra punch of flavor, sprinkle with your choice of spices – try garlic powder, smoked paprika, onion powder or Italian seasoning.
