Air Fryer Lamb Chops
Lamb chops feel fancy, but they don’t have to be fussy. These air fryer lamb chops have beautifully caramelized edges and juicy centers. You get that restaurant-quality sear without standing over a hot pan.

Because lamb cooks quickly, this method is ideal when you want something impressive without sacrificing your evening. Plus, leftovers (if there are any) make amazing sandwiches, salads, or wraps later in the week.

Ingredients Notes
Lamb chops
I have used shoulder chops for this recipe,m but you can also use rib or loin chops. Choose ones about ¾ to 1 inch (2-3 cm) thick so they cook evenly and stay tender. If yours are thinner, keep a close eye on timing so they don’t overcook.
Oil
A light coating of oil helps the seasoning stick and encourages browning. Light olive oil, avocado oil, or another high-smoke-point oil will all work.
Seasoning
Salt and pepper are non-negotiable. From there, you can keep it classic with rosemary and garlic, or try:
- Lemon zest + thyme
- Greek seasoning
- Smoked paprika + oregano
- Mint + garlic (for a fresher vibe)
Lamb loves bold herbs and citrus, so don’t be shy.
How to cook lamb chops in the air fryer
1 Preheat.
Preheat the air fryer to 200°C/ 400°F for around 2-3 minutes while you prep the chops. Preheating is important for this recipe because the air frying time is relatively short, and so you want it to be up to temperature when you put the chops in.
2 Prepare.
Pat the lamb chops, drizzle with oil, then sprinkle with seasoning. Flip them over and repeat on the other side.
3 Air fry lamb chops.
Place the seasoned lamb chops in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Try to make sure they have space between them.

Air fry at 200°C/ 400°F for 5-10 minutes for medium rare (timing varies with thickness). Adjust time for rare (less) or well-done (more). See section below for more on cooking times.

Rest.
Let the lamb chops rest 5 minutes before serving so the juices redistribute.
How long to cook lamb chops in the air fryer
The exact cooking time depends on a few factors, including how well done you like your lamb. The best way to get it right is to use an instant-read thermometer towards the end of the cooking time.
Since the internal temperature will rise while the lamb is resting, it is removed from the heat whenever it is a few degrees lower than your desired doneness.
Target internal temps:
- Medium-rare: remove at 135 °F (57 °C), final temperature ~145 °F (63 °C)
- Medium: remove at 145 °F (63 °C), final temperature ~155 °F (68 °C)
- Well: remove at 155 °F (68 °C), final temperature ~165 °F (73 °C)

Serving ideas
Air fryer lamb chops pair beautifully with:
- A side of roast potatoes and gravy
- Simple greens or steamed vegetables for balance
- A dollop of mint yogurt or chimichurri on top
- A warm grain bowl with couscous or quinoa
Serve with freshly chopped mint for that “restaurant at home” finish.
