Air Fryer Parsnips

Air fryer parsnips, roasted plain or honey-glazed, make a delicious and easy side dish. A healthy air fryer recipe, these parsnips have all the taste of traditional roasted parsnips, but are much quicker to cook and use a lot less oil.

How to Cook Parsnips in an Air Fryer

Roasted parsnips make a great side for many types of food, and are a great side to accompany a roast dinner. However, roasting them in the oven uses a lot of oil and can take over half an hour to cook.

Since I learned how quick and easy it is easy to roast parsnips in an air fryer it is the only way I cook them.

This recipe is great because you can make them plain roasted, or honey-glazed if you want something a bit fancier for a holiday dinner.

Especially at this time of year, I love roasted vegetables, some of my favorites are air fryer roasted carrots, air fryer pumpkin, air fryer sweet potato wedges and air fryer roast potatoes.

How to Prepare Parsnips for Roasting

Parsnips are easy to prepare for roasting. Peeling is optional. I know some people prefer to peel root vegetables, but I usually just give them a good scrub (it is best to buy organic if you are going to do this).

Trim the tops and bottoms, then you will need to cut them into 2-3 inch long pieces. I usually get 6-7 pieces from each parsnip.

You can also just cut them lengthwise down the middle into quarters if you prefer.

When you put the parsnips in the air fryer they need a bit of oil and a quick sprinkle of salt. You can do this in the air fryer basket if you have an oil sprayer, or toss them together in a bowl before adding them to the air fryer basket.

You can add other seasoning too if you like, or read on for my favorite way to flavor roast parsnips.

Honey Roasted Parsnips in the Air Fryer

This sounds (and tastes) quite gourmet, but it is actually the easiest recipe!

All you need to do is oil and salt the parsnips as above, and then drizzle a little honey over them before air frying.

As the parsnips roast in the air fryer, the honey melts down and forms a beautiful sweet brown glaze.

Honey roasted parsnips in the air fryer are so delicious you will probably never cook them any other way again.

Serving suggestions

I like to serve air fried parsnips as a side dish to a holiday feast. they go really well with mains like air fryer roast beef, air fryer roast pork, air fryer ham, or air fryer roast lamb.

This is an ideal recipe if you want to cook the main course and the parsnips in the air fryer. Because the cooking time is only 10-15 minutes you can cook them while the meat is resting.

Prepare the parsnips while the meat is cooking in the air fryer, then remove the meat, cover with foil to rest, and air fry parsnips so they will be done just as you are ready to serve the meat.

Leftovers

Store any leftover parsnips in an air tight container in the refrigerator, and use them within 3 days.

You can reheat them in the air fryer (2-3 minutes @ 360°F/180°C), or just eat them cold as a snack!

How to roast parsnips in an air fryer.

Ingredients

  • 4 medium parsnips
  • 1 olive oil spray
  • Salt
  • Drizzle of honey (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat air fryer to 390°F (200°C).
  2. Cut parsnips into 2-3 inch pieces.

  3. Place parsnips in air fryer basket
  4. Spray parsnips with oil, add a pinch of salt, shake the basket and spray with oil again
  5. Optional: drizzle honey over the parsnips
  6. Set parsnips to air fry for 10-15 minutes
  7. The exact time will depend on how efficient your air fryer is. Check after 10 minutes, and air fry parsnips for longer if they need it.
  8. The parsnips are ready when they are tender and starting to turn golden brown.
