What do you need?
Pizza dough
Using premade dough (like Pillsbury) is a great way to save time, but you can also use homemade pizza dough for this recipe.
Or, you can use my easy 3-ingredient pizza dough recipe if you need a simple homemade dough recipe.
Pizza sauce
I like to use Mutti canned pizza sauce, but use any brand you like. Tomato paste will also work, though it is a good idea to add some herbs for extra flavor (try oregano, basil, thyme).
Shredded cheese
I normally use shredded cheddar cheese or mozzarella cheese for this recipe but you can use any variety of grated cheese that you like. Try adding in other types like Colby or Parmesan for added flavor, or try some pepper jack if you want to add a kick!
Toppings
I used diced pepperoni slices and chopped mushrooms. You can also use just about any other of your favorite pizza toppings, as long as they are cut up small enough. Fillings need to be cut up quite thinly so that they can be rolled up in the dough.
How to make pizza scrolls in the air fryer
1
Prepare the pizza.
Roll the dough out on a lightly floured surface. You are aiming for a rectangle shape, of around 35×25 cm/ 14×10 inches, but it doesn’t have to be exact.
Spread the pizza sauce out over the dough, leaving a strip along the lower long edges that is free of sauce. Then add the shredded cheese and other toppings.
2
Roll and slice.
Preheat the air fryer to 320°F/160°C. Then roll the dough up, starting at the top long edge of the pizza. Secure the dough by pressing gently along the edge that was left free of sauce.
Use a sharp knife to slice the dough roll into pieces around 3cm/ 1-inch thick.
3
Air Fry.
Place pizza scroll slices on a small cookie sheet to stop the cheese sticking to your air fryer basket (or use a small piece of baking paper if recommended for your air fryer). Air fry pizza scrolls at 320°F/160°C for 12-15 minutes until golden brown and cooked through.
Storing
Once cooled, these should be stored in an airtight container in the fridge, and use within 3 days. They will also freeze well – just pop them in ziplock freezer bags – and use them within 3 months.
To reheat these pizza scrolls in the air fryer, heat them at 320°F/ 160°C for about 5 minutes (defrost first if reheating frozen scrolls).
